We will bring practical leadership, accountability and responsiveness to our city. We will restore confidence in the council by operating transparently and addressing the concerns of business owners and residents promptly and with concrete actions.

Fiscal Responsibility

Our ‘New West Works’ policy is an economic and affordability-focused initiative to support local businesses, restore fiscal responsibility, revitalize the downtown and strengthen the city’s economy. We will create a new Financial Accountability and Budget Oversight Committee to strengthen transparency and heighten public confidence in our city’s finances.

Safer, more welcoming New West

We will launch a comprehensive set of non-policing initiatives to increase the vibrancy of our public spaces, enhance safety, support the most vulnerable in our city and clean things up. We will hire at least 12 new Community Enforcement and Safety Officers, triple the city’s investment in the On the Street program for the homeless, reinvigorate local business opportunities, and launch a VIP ‘Vibrancy Invites People’ initiative to bring more street entertainers, public art, performances and cultural activities into our public spaces.

Active New West

Our Active New West platform will make New Westminster more connected and livable by expanding parks, recreation, sports facilities and public spaces that keep pace with a growing city. That means rebuilding the pier, improving fields and recreation facilities, protecting and expanding park space, keeping recreation affordable, and creating more opportunities for people of all ages to play, gather and belong.

Traffic, transport, and trains

We will get the basics right by investing in well-maintained roads, smarter traffic management, reliable water and sewer infrastructure, dependable garbage and recycling collection, and modern street lighting that improves safety and everyday service. We will advocate for practical steps to reduce the impact of train noise on residents, while delivering efficient, accountable and high-quality municipal services for everyone in New Westminster.

Revitalized downtown & business districts

We will set the conditions in place for local businesses to thrive. We will revitalize the downtown core and eliminate the 3.5% electricity surcharge, patio fees, high business license fees, ad business applications fees. We will pilot new, lower-cost micro-retail opportunities along Columbia Street, using decoratively wrapped shipping containers. Our VIP (Vibrancy Invites People) initiative will bring more street entertainers, public art, performances, and cultural activities to key commercial streets ad public spaces.

We will make growth work for New Westminster by ensuring new housing comes with the parks, schools, transportation, services and infrastructure residents need. That means building complete communities, protecting neighbourhood character, revitalizing downtown and making City Hall faster, more responsive and easier to deal with.

Greener New West

Our Greener New West platform will protect our local environment and prepare New Westminster for the impacts of climate change through practical action that strengthens neighbourhoods and delivers measurable results. That means improving flood resilience, expanding the urban tree canopy, protecting and adding green space, making City operations cleaner, investing wisely, and building healthier, cooler communities for the future.

Our focus is clear – we will build more, safer and supportive schools, put students first, and plan ahead for a growing New Westminster. That work depends on trusted leadership that makes clear decisions with transparency, spends responsibly, advocates for fair funding, and strengthens partnerships with families, students, staff, Indigenous communities, the City, and community partners.

Building and learning for the future

We will fight for the classroom space New Westminster students need. That means pushing for new schools, classroom additions, fewer portables, and better conditions in the portables still in use. We will connect school planning with housing growth, transportation needs, and climate resilience, so families are not left waiting while enrolment rises. Every child deserves a safe, modern, well-equipped school that is easier to get to and built for the future.

Student success & well-being

We will put student success at the centre of every decision. That means strengthening literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, confidence, and well-being, while making sure every student has the support they need to learn and belong. We will champion inclusive classrooms, well-rounded programs, future-ready opportunities in areas like digital literacy, STEM, arts, athletics, trades, and leadership, and the school teams who help students reach their full potential.

Safe, healthy and inclusive schools

We will work to make every school safe, welcoming, healthy, and ready for learning. Families deserve confidence that schools are clean, well cared for, prepared for emergencies, and able to respond to bullying, online safety concerns, and mental health needs. We will strengthen safety planning, support more wellness services, promote respectful and inclusive school communities, and create clearer ways for families to raise concerns and get timely answers.
