Liz Fajber

New Westminster Secondary School graduate Liz Fajber brings more than 25 years of leadership in policy, strategic planning, budgeting, and public accountability to her campaign for school trustee. As school trustee, she will champion responsible financial stewardship, tackling the school capacity crisis, improved student learning and opportunities, and stronger, more transparent partnerships with families, educators, community organizations and government.

  • More than 25 years of government and non-profit experience in Canada and internationally. 
  • Skilled in strategic planning, policy, leadership, budget management and public accountability, including managing annual budgets from $5 million to $300 million. 
  • Held senior roles with the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Canada’s International Development Research Centre. 
  • Experience with education and youth programs, currently senior advisor for a non-profit on community climate resilience.
  • Holds an MA from McGill University.
  • Full-time carer for her elderly mother living with dementia; also volunteer mentor for young professionals and president of her building’s strata council.
  • Focused on responsible financial stewardship, tackling school capacity, and better student outcomes rooted in strong, transparent school-community partnerships.

Liz Fajber brings proven leadership in policy, strategic planning, budgeting and public accountability to her campaign for school trustee. A New Westminster Secondary School graduate and Moody Park resident, Liz believes every student deserves safe, inclusive, high-quality public education and the space, supports and resources needed to thrive.

Liz is running for school trustee to bring practical solutions-focused leadership to New Westminster’s School Board. Liz will focus on capacity challenges, fair funding, stronger student supports and services, and building collaborative partnerships to ensure decisions are transparent and informed by families, students, educators and the broader community.

Liz brings more than 25 years of experience in government and non-profit sectors in Canada and internationally, including managing large budgets and securing funding. She has held senior roles with the UK government and Canada’s International Development Research Centre, overseen education and youth programs, and currently is a senior advisor for a non-profit on strengthening community climate resilience. Liz is also the full-time carer for her mother living with dementia, volunteer mentor for young professionals, and is president of her building’s strata council.
