Danielle Connelly is an experienced New Westminster school board trustee and current vice-chair who brings proven leadership, urgency and a student-first focus to the board. Since first being elected in 2018, she has advocated for expedited provincial funding to address the district’s growing capacity challenges and ensure students can learn in proper school buildings rather than portables.
Danielle has championed reduced wait times for educational assessments, increased mental health and wellness funding and stronger in-class supports. She has also served as Operations, Policy and Planning Committee chair, chair of the BCSTA Metro Branch and Coordinating Committee, and on the district’s accessibility, SOGI and policy review committees.
Before serving on the board, Danielle was active in local school communities through the Skwo:wech Elementary and École Glenbrook Middle School Parent Advisory Councils and helped organize the Rally to Rebuild New Westminster Secondary School in 2016. A Carleton University graduate with a BA Honours in Political Science and Communications, she has worked in the non-profit, public and private sectors, including roles with UNICEF and ICBC. Danielle lives in Sapperton with her husband Trevor and their two sons and has volunteered with New Westminster Minor Hockey, Block Watch, seniors’ programs and minor Salmonbellies lacrosse.
